Focus on Skills

Academic performance is important for any student and scoring high, naturally secures them better higher education and a better future. Ironically, students who are extremely good in academics need not necessarily have an excellent personality. Weak interpersonal and communication skills definitely make the student feel less confident. Their inability to express themselves in a forum /counselling session or an interview works against their performance in academics.
Our education system leaves out a lot on personality development and individual introspection and these become gaping holes once the student completes school education. Assessing one’s EQ is as important as assessing one’s IQ. Most importantly, excelling only in academics does not get an individual anywhere. It is ultimately the overall quality of an individual, which promises a great future and career.
Today’s complex business environment is not just looking for individuals who can reproduce their learning. They are looking to employ individuals with great soft skills as well. Skills that will enable them to communicate well in and outside a team, skills that can help them blend well in a team, and finally skills that can make them tomorrow’s leaders.
Classontheweb.com with its new range of online learning modules for the soft skill development of an individual has launched courses on Communication, Presentation, Time- Management, Team skills, Leadership skills and Job- Interview skills.
The more we tune and prune our soft skills the more we learn and grow naturally enjoying a better advantage in terms of employability and acceptance in the society. Remember learning is multi-dimensional and we must ensure that our intelligence, attitude and skill complement and supplement each other.
